Eagles Weekly Round Up: The Injuries Hath Arrived

doug

Contact camp, baby! Week two of camp is in the book for the Birds. Everyone is hurt, the defense looks good, and Wentz look pretty damn beautiful under center. Lets hit it.

Let’s start off with the shit news. Jason Peters and Malcolm Jenkins left practice early on Thursday with injuries. I feel like every day I scroll through Twitter to see that JP is on the ground, being helped up, or on the training table. I get it, he is not what he used to be at all, but can he even play this season? Last year he couldn’t stay upright and this year looks no different. Jenkins on the other hand, should be fine and good to go as some media members are reporting that this is the first PRACTICE that they have seen Jenkins miss in almost two years.

Stop me if you have heard this before..An Eagles running back is currently injured. Though it is not major, it is not good for the Eagles who escaped the first week of camp without any major injuries. Hopefully Smallwood will be good to go against Tampa in the first preseason game.

And with that said… Darren Sproles, who just got PAID last week, seems to be shaping up more and more like the number one running back on this team. Now is this because he is their best running back (True) or because he is the only one that can run without cracking into 100 pieces (Also true)? This I do not know. It is scary to think that the might mouse in Sproles, at his age, might be our best bet running between the tackles.

We pause for Carson Wentz porn…

Oh and look at him carrying pads like a good normal rookie and not the future of a franchise so desperate for their first championship to celebrate with the most rabid fans in all of America.

After pussy-footing around, Howie Roseman basically told the media this week that he will be making the final decisions when it come to who makes and misses the 53 man roster. So now we officially know, Championship or 0-16, Howie will be the one to blame/praise.

After getting a massive contract this offseason and getting back to a 4-3 defense, where he should THRIVE this season, Vinny Curry is finally looking for his big breakout year. After being shoved to the back of the line with Kelly at the helm, it sure should be fun to watch him work opposite of Barwin and Cox this season in a 4-3 defense, which is made for a playmaker like Curry.

Speaking of Cox, he destroyed someone in one of the first fights at camp this year. Hey Allen Barbre, I would lay off Connor Barwin next time man. You Don’t Want Fletch coming at you.

That’s all for this week.
