Mayor Of Fairfax Arrested For Trying To Trade An Undercover Officer Meth For Sex
WTOP - The mayor of the City of Fairfax and two other men have been arrested for distribution of methamphetamine.
Fairfax County police arrested Richard “Scott” Silverthorne, 50, of Fairfax, Aug. 4 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Tysons Corner. Police said Silverthorne, who also is a substitute teacher for the Fairfax County Public Schools, provided methamphetamine to undercover detectives.
Police started an investigation into a meth operation in late July.
“A suspect was identified who was allegedly distributing methamphetamine through a website used to arrange for casual sexual encounters between men,” a news release said. Police said an undercover detective made contact with Silverthorne after creating a profile on a website. The two then communicated via text messaging.
“During the course of communication, the suspect advised that he could provide methamphetamine for sexual encounters. Undercover detectives agreed to meet the suspect for a group sexual encounter in exchange for methamphetamine. The suspect arranged to bring methamphetamine along with other men to the engagement,” the release said.
Police said after Silverthorne provided methamphetamine to the undercover detectives, he was charged with felony distribution of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they used a stun gun on McLaughlin during his arrest after he resisted.

As the old saying goes, there’s no such thing as bad publicity, and I think this will hold on true in this case as well. Some might think getting busted in an underground meth sting in exchange for gay sex (not that there’s anything wrong with that) isn’t the best look for advancing your political career, but you’d be dead wrong. Just think about it- we love politicians who are like us. The politicians who are outside of that tacky, try-hard political spectrum. The guys who just want to do meth and have sex. And that’s why I know this isn’t the worst thing ever. The old mayor of DC Marion Barry got busted for crack, went to jail, and then came back and was re-elected as mayor for like 10 more terms. And maybe a guy named Rob Ford, ever heard of him? So not only do people love mayors who are heavy in the drug game, but being gay is so hip right now too. He can probably spin it to make him look like the victim of society or some shit too. This guy Scott Silverthorne probably has a lot of explaining to do to his family, but as far as being mayor, they might as well just give him his re-election now.
