Eli Manning Being The 22nd Highest-Rated QB In Madden Bothers Me More Than It Should

I know the annual rites of August include fans bitching and moaning about how their favorite players are rated too low in Madden. But really, EA Sports? I’m here reading puff pieces on how Eli has a chance to break passing records with Benny Macs high flying offense and then these ratings hit me in the nuts like a splash of cold water. Now you’re going to tell me Eli is in the bottom third of QBs in the NFL? I mean every Giants fan will tell you that Eli isn’t perfect. The dizzying highs and the mind-blowing lows are all part of the equation. But Christ, putting two elite quarterbacks both at 81s during their prime is flat-out bulljazz. Especially with solid stats and a 35:14 TD:INT ration despite having one healthy real NFL wide receiver on the entire roster (h/t Jerry Reese).
And yes, I’m sure EA has some person in charge of breaking down every play from every game and doing more arithmetic than my blogger brain can handle. But some of these choices are offensive. Obviously Andy Dalton and Matt Stafford being 85+ while my beloved Elisha sits at an 81 was a punch to the dick. But you had to throw Derek Carr, Tyrod Taylor, and even Teddy Two Gloves himself right in my face, in addition to Mr. You Like That Kirk “Kurt” Cousins? For shame, Electronic Arts. For shame.
The only thing I can think of is that the guy in charge of Eli’s rating only watched routes run by Reuben Randle last year. Which means if Eli is an 81 with that walking, talking jinx of a player, Eli should be a 95 easy without him and with the ODB/Cruz/Shepard/Tye four headed monster ready to wreck havoc on the NATIONAL. FOOTBALL. LEAGUE.
Shit, I just need real football back in my life. And I also need a screenshot of Ben McAdoo in this year’s Madden. I know one of you Stoolies are hiding the goods from me.
