Eternal Wet Blanket Stephen Hawking Says Brexit Might Point To The End Of The Human Race
The Independent- Stephen Hawking is calling for a polarised post-Brexit Britain to reconsider the value it places on money and material wealth in order to have hope for the future. In an essay for The Guardian, the celebrated physicist outlined how the EU referendum was influenced by attitudes towards wealth and the way our society prioritises money and the accumulation of possessions. Hawking highlighted how the referendum verdict could have a detrimental effect on the availability of funding and grants for important research such as the work he has carried out throughout his career. “If we fail then the forces that contributed to Brexit, the envy and isolationism not just in the UK but around the world that spring from not sharing, of cultures driven by a narrow definition of wealth and a failure to divide it more fairly, both within nations and across national borders, will strengthen. If that were to happen, I would not be optimistic about the long-term outlook for our species.”
What?!?!? No way! You’re telling me that Stephen Hawking predicted something was going to cause the human race to end? Get outta town! He never ever does that except when he does it about once a month. He’s a broken record. And then once a month I write a blog about how fucking sick I am of Hawking being Mr. Doom And Gloom. I understand why he’s doing it and it’s because he’s right. Pessimists are almost always right in the end. The human race is gonna die out one day. Whether it be aliens or robots or the sun exploding or fucking Brexit. One day this is all gonna end. Hawking is just positioning himself to be on the right side of history when it happens. That way, people (or the aliens who wipe us out) will look back and say, “Well shit. Hawking was right all along.” OF COURSE HE IS! The human race isn’t gonna keep going and going forever. At some point this whole kit and caboodle is gonna topple over. But that doesn’t mean I wanna hear about it 12 times a year from Hawking. Somebody unplug his keyboard.
