Carlos Villanueva Has Been Trolling Jayson Werth With An Eephus Pitch For Three Years
A hittable fastball is hard to find. Sometimes you think you’re about to get a hittable fastball, and then you catch the early flight home from San Diego, and a couple of nude people jump out of your bathroom blindfolded like a god damn magic show, ready to double team your girlfriend. The eephus pitch is just a dirty, dirty, deceitful pitch, so you gotta feel for Jayson Werth here. My man got duped twice, and Carlos Villanueva enjoyed making him look foolish so much the first time that he bided his time, waited it out, and made Werth think about that pitch every second of every day for three whole years before he did it to him AGAIN. It’s just not fair.
If you’re not a baseball fan, you’d probably be wondering why pitchers don’t use this pitch more often. And the answer to that is that it’s most effective when you use it once every three years. If hitters start to take notice that it’s part of your arsenal, they do this with it.
