Wake Up With Aledmys Diaz's Walk-Off To Sweep The Padres

San Diego Padres v St Louis Cardinals

I don’t know why, but the Padres are just one of those teams that I feel bad for how much they suck. I don’t get any enjoyment out of their failures. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think I might’ve been a Padres fan in a past life. Anyway, the Cardinals haven’t been getting much attention this year, mostly because they’ve been overshadowed by the powerhouse Chicago Cubs in the NL Central. While the Cubs have remained a huge storyline this season, they haven’t exactly remained a powerhouse. In fact, since June 20, the Cardinals are 16-11, while the Cubs have gone 10-17. Over that span, St. Louis has gone from a season-worst 12.5 games back to 6.5 back, the closest they’ve been to first place since May 23. After their walk-off win to sweep the Padres, the Cardinals have a run differential of +102, which is third in the MLB, and better than every American League team.
