Top Recruit Rips The Damn Rim Off The Backboard In AAU Game, Shatters Backboard Into A Jillion Pieces

ESPN – Isaiah Stokes, the younger brother of NBA forward Jarnell Stokes, broke the backboard in the final minute of an AAU game at the Adidas Summer Championship in Las Vegas on Thursday.

The 6-foot-8, 250-pound Stokes went up for a two-handed breakaway dunk and said he was shocked when the rim gave way and he went crashing to the floor.

“I had intentions to try and break it,” Stokes said before heading to a local hospital to get stitches on his left hand. “But I didn’t think I’d be able to do it.”

The court where Stokes broke the backboard was shut down for three hours after his dunk.

Isaiah Stokes recently dropped about 60 pounds and gave up football. He said he has narrowed his college choices to Memphis, Tennessee, Florida, Iowa State and South Carolina.

Got to be one of the most badass feelings in all of sports, maybe life in general. I mean, you want to feel like a MAN? Rip a freaking rim off a hoop and shatter the backboard into one billion pieces all over the court. Shut down an entire tournament for 3 hours because you’re such a god damn monster. Have the other teams, on a completely different court, full of recruits trying to show off for scouts, stop their own game just to look at what you’ve done.

Have your teammates basically pooping themselves in fear and disbelief.

I mean I know I just said a few days ago that dunks are getting played out, but here’s one way to switch it up. Skip the 360s and self passes and through-the-legs stuff, just got up there and literally destroy the hoop.
