Terror Strikes Nice, France

Real quick here. It’s Friday. Nobody wants to be blogging about or reading about the horrifying murder of dozens of people. But we live in reality. I’ve preached it before and I’ll preach it the next time something like this happens — while we like to have fun, shoot the shit and joke around, sometimes we’re forced to remember there are horrible people out there relentlessly plotting to do bad shit to us.

Some psychopathic terrorist scumbag drove this huge truck through crowds of people in Nice, France, Thursday night. At least 84 were killed, including 2 Americans, and several others are in critical condition.

This was a terror attack. The truck was driven by a man of Tunisian-French background. Firearms, grenades and other bad shit were found inside the truck.

What happened was simple. The terrorist drove that huge truck at high speeds straight through people lining the Promenade des Anglais, a walkway/road along the Mediterranean. Large crowds had gathered to watch fireworks celebrating Bastille Day, France’s 4th of July.

Here’s a glimpse of the crowds doing what any of us would be doing — running.

There is heart-crushing footage and images of the carnage. Of bodies on the pavement. If you search hard enough, you will find it. I will not be posting it.

Something needs to be done about isis. I know that’s easy to say. I know it’s easy to sit on my couch, point my finger, and offer a problem without a solution. We’re already conducting a wild amount of airstrikes. Is it troops on the ground? Do we need to go that far?

What has happened is this. 99% of isis’ fight is in Iraq, Syria and other unruly Middle Eastern places. But they’ve learned that without members, without people, without numbers, there is no islamic state. It cannot survive. It cannot outlive the thousands and thousands of terrorists that we and our allies continue to kill. So they have focused intense efforts on conducting horrific attacks in Western countries, which produce massive global coverage and drive recruitment.

It’s pathetic. It’s senseless. It’s cowardice.

These people suck. isis sucks. They’re just a group of thugs galvanized by the idea that they’re part of something. That there’s some “religious” meaning to their barbaric behavior. Fuck them and fuck this terrorist.

And remember. Just because we’re not fully at war does not mean we don’t have hundreds of our boys fully fighting these scumbags day in and day out. God bless them and all the other good people who’ve committed their lives to making events like this as infrequent as possible.
