Philadelphia Continues To Dominate The Sports World, Spinners Headed To Major League Ultimate Finals
Here you were thinking that we’re in the dog days of summer. Here you were thinking that we are in the sports hell that is July. Here you were thinking that Philadelphia sports bring on nothing but sorrow and disappointment.
You’ve never been more wrong in your entire life. Because the Philadelphia Spinners are about to bring this city back to the top of the world like we were in 1776. Because after knocking off the Boston Whitecaps back on June 26, the Philadelphia Spinners punched their ticket to the Major League Ultimate Championship this Saturday at Franklin Field. 3 weeks between the semifinals and the finals seems a bit excessive but they’ll be playing against the Portland Stags. And since this is the MLU and not the MLB, I can’t imagine these guys have a charter jet to take from Portland to Philly. Hell, they may not even have a coach bus. So the travel time to get all the way across the country definitely needed to be accounted for. Either way, both teams are 9-1 heading into the Championship and only one can get to double digit wins on the season.
This is the year that the city of Philadelphia really turns everything around. It starts with Villanova winning the NCAA tournament. If you say that the city of Philadelphia can’t claim Nova’s championship as their own, well then you can frig right the hell off. Then the Eagles get Carson Wentz with the 2nd overall pick in the NFL Draft. Then the Phillies have the #1 overall pick in the MLB Draft. Then the Sixers snag Ben Simmons #1 overall in the NBA Draft. The Flyers have all the young talent they need and the only thing Philly needs right now is another championship to open up the floodgates. That’s where the Spinners come in. Then it’s Title Town. Between the Spinners looking to pick up their first ever championship, the Philadelphia Soul dominating the Arena Football League scene for a while, the Wings and Barrage doing work in lacrosse while they were still in the city and the Kixx doing whatever they did… well Philadelphia is the greatest fringe sports city in the world. Don’t @ me. Just give us our due credit.
So yeah, this Saturday at Penn’s Franklin Field. Unfortunately I can’t make it but if you are in the area and looking to witness history, the game starts at 6:30
Time for some highlights, bitches.
