The Internet Thinks Chris Berman's "Down Goes Frazier" Line Was In Poor Taste Last Night

Come on. I get that it was awkward because Muhammad Ali didn’t have anything to do with the Frazier fight that gave us the “down goes Frazier” line, but did anyone actually expect Chris Berman to pass on this? That would be like getting to late September and not quoting Rod Stewart. Or saying the Oakland Raiders team name without a million R’s (The Rrrrrrraiders). This is Berman. This is who he is for better or worse. You know exactly what you’re going to get from him every time he sits in front of a camera. Punny nicknames, references to bands from the 70’s, the “nice spread” video, and a clip of Berman at “The Catch” game. So shut up internet, you don’t have to like Berman but you at least need to let him live. Of course he said “down goes Frazier”. If I put the hottest chick in the world in front of you and she wanted to fuck but I said  “you’re not allowed to touch her” then left the room, would you play tiddly winks for the rest of the afternoon? No, you’d fuck her. Just like if a guy named Frazier loses right in front of Chris Berman’s face he’s going to say “Down Goes Frazier”.  That analogy sort of sucks but you get my point. The heart wants what the heart wants and Berman’s big fat heart wants to do the “Down Goes Frazier” line. Let him live, let him live.
