You all know me, you know what type of fan I am, I’m the eternal optimist through and through. I’m the guy who convinced himself that Marc Trestman was an offensive wizard put on this earth to take the Bears to the Super Bowl. I have the rational side of my brain, the side that fully understands how this Bulls season is going to be a circus and a clusterfuck, and then I have the dumb idiot side that always takes over. The side that has said things like “maybe D-Rose is actually back?” or “maybe this is the year Jay Cutler wins NFL MVP”. My anger for Gar/Pax/Jerry isn’t going to go away. I still don’t think they have a plan other than to sell tickets/jerseys and be relevant enough to convince people they’re trying to win. But let’s put that all aside, let’s stuff that anger away for another day. I’m now here to tell you I’m all in on the 2016-17 Chicago Bulls. They aren’t going to win a title, that is a guarantee, but they’ll be interesting. They’re going to win games, they’re going to fight, there will be dysfunction and wild shit that goes down and I’m excited.
Logic says there are two paths in the NBA. Competing and rebuilding. Well guess what, the Bulls are neither and I’m going to embrace it. I could sit and be the negative guy who complains all season long or I can say fuck it and have some fun. So let’s do this, let’s get weird, let’s never shoot 3’s and watch Fred have a meltdown. Let’s read all the columns about this being Jimmy’s team but also Dwyane’s. Let’s do subtweets and cryptic messages. Let’s watch the 3 week stretch when Niko is good and get hopeful about the Bulls making some noise in the playoffs. Let’s beat Lebron in Game 1 of the second round and actually think the Bulls can pull it off. Because at the end of the day what’s the alternative? We’re not going to stop being fans right?
