The Interview This Skateboarder Kid Gave Is 14 Seconds Of Pure Showmanship

Mr. “I’m So Stoked My Dudes” is in the building, swagger on a hundred, thousand, trillion. This guy checks all the boxes in only 14 seconds. The slow reveal of the comically small sunglasses. The preposterous answer. The dab that makes Cam Newton jealous. And the “skooooot” as he walks away just leaves this reporter in a puddle. As exhilarating as Game 7 of the NBA Finals + the Bastard Bowl being aired at the same time except all condensed less than a quarter of a minute. There is no way that reporter thought she was going to get such an electric answer when her boss sent her in the field to ask about residential ramp laws.

Random related story. Like any good American, I found myself tumbling deep down a YouTube rabbit hole the other night when I stumbled upon an old “Best Of” news reporter interviews. Just a mashup of our favorites. I Like Turtles Kid, Woot Woot Guy, and of course every glorious person hunting that leprechaun in Alabama.

To borrow a phrase from James Earl Jones’ speech in Field Of Dreams, watching this videos sparked memories that were so thick I had to brush them away from my face. Classics on classics on classics. Which led me to wonder if we would see a run of internet celebs like we did back in the day. And then “I’m So Stoked My Dudes” tumbles down from the heavens less than 48 hours later. It’s times like this when I know that God is real.

Which leads me to my question. Is “I’m So Stoked My Dudes” kid the last of a dying breed of great news reporter interviews or the latest example of a rebirth of the genre following Jaguars lady?

As a blogger and a diehard fan of internet ridiculousness, I clearly hope its the latter.
