It's Time To Kick Ubaldo Jimenez The Fuck Off This Team

Baltimore Orioles v Toronto Blue Jays

Enough is enough with this guy. It’s time to kick Ubaldo Jimenez the fuck off the Orioles. He lasted ONE OUT yesterday. ONE! 1/3 of an inning. I could last 1/3 of an inning. He gave up 6 hits, including 4 doubles, 5 runs, and if we’re looking for a silver lining here, he didn’t walk anyone, good for you Ubbie. On the season he is 3-7 with an ERA of 6.89. As bad as his overall record has been, he’s been even worse on the road, 0-5 with an ERA of 10.13 in 5 starts away from Camden Yards this season. Overall, Ubaldo has the second highest ERA in MLB out of all starters with 50 IP, and the highest in the AL. It’s time for him to getttt the fuck out.

Seriously, I don’t see how he can make his next scheduled start, he just can’t. It’s now clearly better for the O’s to eat the rest of his contact, around $20 million, than to take a loss every fifth day with him on the mound. You can’t make any ground on the Red Sox with a guaranteed loss every 5 days. You at least have to give your guys a chance.

He is missing his spots by feet, falling behind to hitters, and most importantly, he isn’t giving the team a chance to win. The Orioles scored 9 runs yesterday and hit 5 homers, AND LOST BECAUSE UBALDO SPOTTED THE JAYS A 5-RUN 1ST INNING. Bullpen also gave up 5, but that is because they had to go 8 and 2/3. A bad start by Ubaldo ruins the bullpen for the rest of the week, it’s a domino effect that we need to put a stop to immediately.

You always hear, “Ubaldo is such a nice guy, he’s a clubhouse guy.” Well guess what, he sucks. I want my favorite baseball team to have the best 25 guys they can, not the nicest 25. I don’t care if he saves puppies from burning buildings in his spare time after he volunteers at the soup kitchen, if he can’t pitch and bring any value to this team, he can’t be on it. Especially for how much money he is making.

He has to agree to be sent down, and lets face it, he won’t agree to that. He could go to the bullpen, but can you really hide him in there? He is going to have to pitch eventually. And with Yovani Gallardo making his way back soon, someone has to be out of the rotation, as much as I think Mike Wright should be working at a car dealership, he has to stay in the rotation over Ubaldo, that is how bad Jimenez has been, he is making me side with Mike Wright. The best thing to do is cut the losses, get him off of the team, get rid of this distraction and move on.

This was a bust of a contract from the beginning, he never came close to being the guy we saw in Colorado, or the second half in Cleveland. The worst thing about this deal is now Angelos will point to this and say “That is why you don’t give big contracts to free agent pitchers.”, and will lock up that checkbook forever. All that money for a record of 21-26 with an ERA of 4.81, this just isn’t working, and Buck and the front office obviously know that. It’s time to eat the contract and move on from this mistake.
