Cageside Seats - Just like the Brock Lesnar UFC 200 news, reports that UFC strawweight fighter Paige VanZant could be headed to WWE SummerSlam are progressing at a rapid pace.

The rumor she could be a key piece of an informal talent exhange brought about by Lesnar’s upcoming appearance in the Octagon on July 9 just started yesterday (June 6), and today it’s being covered by not only wrestling media like Wrestling Observer and PWInsider, but also Fox Sports. VanZant’s manager, Mike Roberts, confirmed to Fox that WWE has reached out to her camp. The company also gave a confirmation to the Observer that talks were ongoing.

No word on what the angle would be (Roberts would only say the inquiry involved her appearing on the August 20 pay-per-view (PPV) “in some capacity”), but WWE is surely looking to capitalize on the 22 year old’s crossover appeal. UFC invested a great deal in promoting her – an effort which hit a snag when she was soundly defeated by Rose Namajunas last December. Since then, however, she’s buoyed her fame with a run to the finals of ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. UFC decided to hold off on placing the former Invicta standout on the card Lesnar will be filling out, because her success on the reality competition made it so she wouldn’t be able to have a full training camp.

Biggest no-brainer in the history of no-brainers. While WWE and UFC are swapping people, who would WWE want in exchange for Brock Lesnar? Ronda Rousey? Nope, she’s a has been. Conor McGregor? Nope, he is too high maintanance. Then who….? Obviously Paige VanZant.

She’s hot as fuck,

But what she also has is major cross-over star power. Her stock is climbing faster than you can count. There’s no question that she’s going to be a mega-star, and the WWE wants in on her now.

Lesnar at UFC 200. Lesnar at SummerSlam. PVZ at SummerSlam. Who knows what UFC and WWE have planned for the future. With how well Vince and Dana are working together right now we might be on the verge of a WWE/UFC combined card PPV. (While CM Punk sits at home and makes more excuses about why he can’t fight, of course.)

Paige VanZant and Brock Lesnar in both the UFC and in the WWE, what a time to be a UFC and WWE fan.
