China Introduces "Female Only" Parking Spots 50% Wider Than The Average Spot

Global News - A number of Chinese parking lots connecting Zhejiang province to Jiangxi province in China’s southeast have sparked outrage after introducing “female only” parking spaces that happen to be much larger than those not assigned to a particular gender. The spaces, designated by pink paint lines and the international symbol for woman, are 50 per cent wider than other spaces in the service centres. The reason – because women are allegedly bad at parking. According to China’s Qianjiang Evening News, Pan Zhuren, director of the service area, said he decided to include the girls-only spaces after noticing that some female drivers were having trouble reversing into parking spots, or “parking carelessly.” According to the report, the female only parking spaces were added to several lots in March, but have only recently stirred up outrage on Chinese social media sites, according to Quartz. “True respect for women entails letting women enjoy the same rights as men,” said one user on Sina Weibo, the Chinese equivalent to Twitter. Zhuren has since stressed that the parking spots were designed to “better serve” female drivers and protect their safety, according to China Plus News.

Thought FOR SURE this was an Onion article. The headline, the picture with the pink paint. Thought no shot this was real.

Then I kicked myself for ever doubting China.

And you know what? For the first time in a long time I’m on board with a wacky idea coming out of China. Ordinarily China shit makes me run for the hills. Eating dogs and weird porn and playing video games until you die and shit like that. Almost everything China does is weird. But this idea? Genius. I’m not one to sit here and be like “Women cant drive, amiright!?” but when you’re Asian and you’re a chick lets just be honest about it. The deck is stacked against you. Physiologically youre just not gonna be good at driving. Your brain is wired to be distracted and you can barely see out of your eyes. Driving just aint gonna be your scene. So lets just accept this situation for what it is and address the problem.

Almost reminds me of when high schools hand out condoms. They know they cant stop kids from having sex so they might as well try to make the situation as safe as can be. Seems a lot like making driving easier for Asian chicks. Its just the smart play.

PS – If you think I wouldnt park in a Female Only spot in a fucking heartbeat you’re outside of your mind. Its crazy how the best parking spots go unused like 90% of the time because of the ‘cappers. Now I’m gonna leave some big ass luxurious parking space empty because its painted pink? For sure not.
