Wake Up With Nomar Mazara Hitting A Home Run And Hosing A Runner At Home

Nomar Mazara — remember the name. Just before the Rangers‘ first of four games against the Blue Jays in Toronto, 21-year-old Nomar Mazara was named American League Rookie of the Month for the month of April. In 74 plate appearances, Mazara hit .333 with an .852 OPS, a pair of homers and 7 RBIs. The campaign for back-to-back American League Rookie of the Month honors is off to a good start, as Mazara tagged his third homer of the season to dead center to give the Rangers a 2-1 lead in the top of the eighth, and then hosed Michael Saunders at home plate in the bottom of the inning to preserve the 2-1 lead, which Texas would hold onto for the win. The Mariners also held on for a one-run victory against the A’s, so the Rangers keep their one-game lead over Seattle in the AL West.
