Caps Drop Game 2 To The Penguins 2-1
Well tonight sucked. The Caps straight up didn’t show up until the 3rd period. We saw them do that many times in the regular season, but this ain’t the regular season and the Pens are for real. The Caps had 5 shots in the first period, 5 shots in the second period, and then 14 in the 3rd. The Caps looked completely uninspired until the 3rd period. After Mojo tied it they had so many chances but couldn’t bury one. Schmidt’s goal was waved off and Richards missed from point blank before former Cap Eric Fehr put in the GWG for the Pens.
Holtby played a great game for the Caps, as did Matt Niskanen who has elevated his game to an all new level this postseason. Despite being outplayed, the Caps were able to manage the Pens attack and had several chances to win the game. The good news is they can’t play worse than they played tonight, and they had several chances to take the lead when it was knotted up.
So up to Pitt they go with the series tied 1-1. It could possibly be without Brooks Orpik, who could be facing a suspension for his concussion causing late hit on Olli Maatta. So if Orpik is out, we could see Orlov back in the lineup on Monday.
Not a great game for the Caps, who now will look to steal one or hey, both, up in Pittsburgh. I still love their chances in this series.
