Trevor Story Did It Again: First Player To Homer In First Three Major League Games

Story

Full disclosure: I had never heard of Trevor Story before his two-homer game in his major league debut. Or maybe I did, but it just never registered in my mind, because nobody made him out to be a player of note. I don’t have the numbers in front of me, but I’m willing to bet that he went undrafted in 99.9% of fantasy baseball drafts that took place before Opening Day. After doing some research of my own, I don’t think this is a fluke, but I’m not ready to say that he’s the next big thing, either.

That being said, he did hit 20 home runs and 40 doubles last year between Double-A and Triple-A in the Rockies organization, and he is a former first-round draft pick from back in 2011. After the two-homer game on Opening Day, I did a little digging to see if this was an anomaly, or if he was a can’t-miss top prospect that I just hadn’t heard of. Turns out, he was drawing comparisons to Troy Tulowitzki all spring, so I guess we shouldn’t be too surprised that he’s swinging the bat this well, but historically well?

I don’t think there’s a person on this planet who could’ve seen something like this coming. I mean, he’s the first player in history to hit a home run in his first three major league games, and he’s got four of them. You can check out the first three that he hit on my blog from this morning. It’s insane what this kid is doing right now. And not only that, but I don’t even think I’ve seen him crack a smile yet. If that were me, I would’ve died from making my own brain explode.
