Bruce Arthur, you magnificent bastard! Thank you. That’s all I can really say. This tweet was a gift. For so long when people ask “what is hockey twitter?” we’ve been forced to use that old saying from the Supreme Court about porn. I can’t define it, but I know it when I see it.
Now that’s no longer an issue. We can point directly to this Bruce Arthur tweet. He managed to be self-righteous, a stick-in-the-mud purist, AND a social justice warrior all in under 140 characters. Truly impressive. Hey Bruce, it’s pro sports…who wins is what matters. That’s why they keep score. They just played 65 minutes of real hockey, let’s have a little fun, get a winner, and go home. Is too good for the high skill of a shootout so he turns the TV off because he’s better than that, and then gives each team a participation trophy in his mind. Bravo!
