California's Leading Scorer Will Miss NCAA Tournament with Injury

Little programming note to all you gamblers (sorry Feits) and Cal backers. Leading scorer Ty Wallace will miss the entire NCAA Tournament thanks to fracturing his hand in practice.

To say this has been a good week for Cal would be a SLIGHT stretch. Between the sexual harassment allegations against their assistant coach and best recruiter, whether or not head coach Cuonzo Martin knew about it and now this – it seems like an upset is brewing.

This is the second time this year Wallace has broken his right hand – he missed five games earlier this season with the same injury. The senior guard is Cal’s leading scorer and really what makes players like Jaylen Brown and Ivan Rabb as good as they are.

So, what does this mean for Cal? They are going to have to start junior Sam Singer, who has averaged 19 minutes a game, but is turning it over nearly 1.5 times per game in that short of time. The biggest problem about this injury is the fact Cal has to go up against Hawaii. The Rainbow Warriors who like to play uptempo and thrive on turning their opponent over. Hawaii turns their opponents over 20% of possessions and having to use a backup point guard isn’t ideal here.

Just goes to show you practice isn’t worth it, man.
