UPDATE: George RR Martin Announces That He Is Still Alive

GRRM- While it is strangely moving to realize that so many people around the world care so deeply about my life and death, I have to go with Mark Twain and insist that the rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated. It was Sir George Martin, of Beatles fame, who has passed away. Not me. He will be missed. I never met Sir George (I did meet Paul McCartney once, for about a minute, while waiting for the valet to bring my rental car up at the Four Seasons in Beverly Hills), but like many millions of others, I loved the Beatles, and Martin’s contribution to their music is worthy of recognition and honor.

PHEW!  Thanks for clearing that up, George. To be totally honest, after I wrote the blog earlier about people thinking writer George RR Martin died instead of Beatles producer George Martin, I thought to myself “When was the last time we heard from George RR Martin? Could he also be dead?”  Well now we know. RR is alive and well and still writing those books. Great news. Let’s all take a moment and thank god that RR writes better stories about about dragons and weddings than that story he told about meeting Paul McCartney while waiting for his rental car in Beverly Hills. A real snoozer.

PS- Those few hours where people think you’re dead and are talking about how great you are have to be AWESOME when something like this happens. Most people won’t admit it but everybody wants to hear people talk about how much they’ll be missed after they die. Guys like George RR Martin are lucky enough to have somebody die with the same name so he got to bask in those kind words for a little while. Super jealous.
