Wake Up With Frank Thomas Hitting His First Career Grand Slam
The Big Hurt is easily one of the best baseball nicknames of all-time. One day, I’ll have to write a blog ranking all the best baseball nicknames, and he’s going to be right up there at the top. I’ve been a baseball fan my whole life, and the first baseball video game I ever owned was Ken Griffey Jr. Presents Major League Baseball for the original Gameboy. I still have it, actually. But I don’t think we can call Gameboy a real video game system. The first Playstation came out around 1994, 1995, when I was about six years old, and the first baseball game I owned for that system was Frank Thomas Big Hurt Baseball. Pretty sure it came out around the same time that Playstation did. Back then, Michael Jordan was on the cover of everything, and my six-year-old brain knew that Jordan was a god, so if he was on the cover of everything NBA related, and Frank Thomas was on the cover of this baseball video game that he must be a god, too. Needless to say, I was a huge Frank Thomas fan growing up.
