Understanding The Daytona 500

Never would want to accompany a light hearted video with something morbid, but I think it’s relevant to tell you guys this. My Dad was a race car driver and died in a racing accident at the Asheville Memorial Speedway when I was two years old. All my family on my Dad’s side is still huge into racing, and I even have a couple family members who compete and have competed at the NASCAR level. However, for obvious reasons my mom never pushed me to follow my lineage in that sport, so this trip to Daytona was actually the first racing experience I’ve ever had. I tell you all this because I really want to be as clear as possible about how great the experience was. Going into it I didn’t know if it was going to be weird for me or what, but it wasn’t at all. The NASCAR atmosphere was better than any environment we visited this fall on the Dixie tour. All the people were amazing, there was more to do than you could ever have time for, and the race itself was truly incredible. I know a lot of people think of NASCAR as something just for rednecks, but coming off this weekend I would HIGHLY encourage any sports fan to go to at least one race. With that said, hope you guys enjoy the video.

And if you missed it, here is the full Dad on the Street Flea Market video which I personally thought was one of the funniest videos I’ve ever been a part of:
