Kmarko's NBA DraftKings Picks - February 22

kmarkoNBA

Welcome back to the daily DraftKings picks where we try to get super rich playing daily fantasy basketball. As usual I’ll do a brief recap of my lineups from the week before then throw out some picks that I’m brainstorming for this weekend, and hopefully get some good feedback/tips/picks from you guys either in the comment section or on Twitter @kmarkobarstool.

I dabbled over the weekend and I’ve broken 300 for 3 straight nights.

Thanks AD!

So looking to keep that hot streak going for the week. 3 plays from the 3 price tiers then extra thoughts at the bottom, let’s roll.

PG Steph Curry $10.7K

Steph’s the only guy that technically qualifies for this price tier, but he’s not just here by default. After a couple of sub-par games in a row (read: below 50. He’s put up 48 in two straight) I think he’s just about due for a little 60 point explosion. The Teague/Schroeder combo can’t guard him, and we’ve seen what he can do against inferior point guards. We realistically need about 55 points for true value on him tonight and I feel good about hitting that. Also hoping that being 1K pricier than everyone else on the board might keep his ownership numbers down a little.

SF Giannis $7.1K

I don’t play the Greek Freak that often, mainly because I try to avoid Bucks like the plague. They’ve got a ton of talent and guys with 60 point upside, but they’ve got Jason Kidd coaching, who is a DFS nightmare when it comes to rotations and minutes. However I’m making an exception tonight because of a perfect storm of price, upside and opportunity. Giannis and his 60+ upside against the Lakers, and checking in at only 7.1K…I’ll take a shot on that no problem.

VALUE PLAY D’Angelo Russell $4.5K

Took over half the season but Byron Scott finally decided to put Russell in the starting 5 to see what he can do. Normally teams that are rebuilding like to do that, you know, sooner, but hey what do I know, I’m not an NBA coach. The price hasn’t caught up yet and Russell is one of my favorite plays on the board when you consider he’s freaking 4.5K. Julius Randle got the same starting 5 bump and is also a great play in a game that should have a lot of points going up.

Other Plays…

*Keep an eye on the D Wade status – I’m assuming he’ll be a GTD again, and if they rule him out, Dragic and Deng become two A+ plays once again.

PG: I’ve been using Isaiah Thomas a lot with great success, and I also like the matchup for Lowry after some disappointing games. Rubio is always a wild card, but is underpriced for his upside, and Reggie Jackson should be in line for some big games with Brandon Jennings out of there. And while D’Angelo will be popular, maybe pay up a little bit and pivot to Jordan Clarkson…

SG: I’ve got DeRozan as my top guy here, with Middleton a close second, but I think I’ll be paying down here. Jamal Crawford has been money, or if I’m going even cheaper, JJ Redick and Kyle Korver have been solid.

SF: I usually try to avoid Lebron on back to backs, but if Kyrie is out, he’s an outstanding play. Deng is locked in here if Wade misses, and Mirza is one of my favorite value plays lately.

PF: Draymond is your top guy here, but I’ll be all over Jabari Parker, who has been insane lately. He’s a little chalky so Julius Randle could be a good pivot, and I like Dieng a lot who is coming off an absolute bomb and may be low owned because of it.

C: Towns is my top guy…DeAndre also a great choice. Greg Monroe is up there too, while Sullinger and Len are some great cheaper options.

That’s it for me, good luck tonight. Tweet me @kmarkobarstool with your picks or to talk shit, whatever. Also if you’re depositing to play make sure to use my referral and we’ll both get hooked up with some stuff.

Also got a pretty sweet tool for everyone to check out. RotoGrinders is the main site I’ve been using for the past year for matchup charts and expert analysis (real experts, not bloggers doing this in their free time), and they have an app now that pushes all NBA injury news directly to your phone the second it hits the wire. So if you’re like me and keep getting screwed by last minute scratches because you didn’t check Twitter in time, or if you want to get a leg up in tournaments by grabbing late breaking value plays, I highly recommend it.

Oh, and it’s free.
