Kanye West's Supposed "Meltdown" At SNL Wasn't Really A Meltdown At All

That’s what we’re passing off as a meltdown nowadays? Weak sauce. Call me crazy but I bet people are saying that’s a meltdown for clicks. I know, crazy right? Kanye + meltdown = pageviews for days. I mean, is Kanye crazy? Yes. I think that was pretty evident before that tape got leaked but I’d say it’s a fact now. A small part of me was hoping that, in his private moments, he would talk about how he was in on the joke and would laugh about how he talked about being the greatest human being ever. NOPE. Turns out that insanity is 100% genuine. At least we know his madness is authentic. Again, that’s not a meltdown. That’s a crazy person being mad somebody messed with his stage before a show. And then also saying he’s the most influential person of all time. Ya know, Kanye stuff.

UPDATE 6:35PM: A source close to Kanye’s camp clarifies the Saturday Night Live backstage audio that surfaced and says it was taken out of context. “He did NOT yell at SNL staff,” the source says. “This audio was secretly recorded while he was venting his frustration in a private moment with his team.” The source adds that the set changes occurred 30 minutes before his performance and that he was completely blindsided by it. Even with the changes, the rapper was in good spirits. “Kanye was seen hugging Lorne Michaels just before the goodnights and he stayed afterwards to chat with the staff and the cast, and thanked the producers on his way out the door.”

If he had yelled at the SNL staff then that makes it a little different. I don’t care how rich or famous (or $53 million in debt) you are. It’s not cool to berate people who you view as below you. He didn’t do that. He did it in the privacy of his own team members. I get it though. KANYE WEST MELTS DOWN AT SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE looks a lot better in a blog title. It just does.

This is a mother fucking meltdown, folks
