KJ McDaniels Fouled Andre Drummond 5 Times In 9 Seconds To Start The 2nd Half To Purposely Put The Pistons In The Bonus

What an unbelievable video. What a coaching decision to just start the 2nd half in the bonus like that to get Drummond on the line. The Rockets started the half down 9 so they figured don’t even give anyone on the Rockets a chance to shoot, let’s just put Drummond at the line and hope for the best. And it worked….sorta. Andre Drummond missed an NBA record 23 free throws last night. Went 13/36 from the charity stripe after being intentionally fouled 21 times. And the Rockets took the lead in the 3rd quarter. So that was the good news. The bad news was they still lost the game by 9, 123-114.

As for Drummond, I’ve blogged about this before, it’s crazy to me he doesn’t shoot underhand. Insane. You can’t shoot free throws worse than he currently does. 35.5% on a shot considered to be free. I refuse to believe that if he shot granny style he wouldn’t bump that % up a good bit. I’d rather score more points than worry about other plays calling me a pussy. Also if I’m Andre Drummond, I don’t worry about anyone calling me a pussy when I’m pulling down 20 boards a night.

To put it politely, Andre Drummond has not had the best 10 game stretch shooting foul shots.
