I Hope Oscar Voting Hasn't Closed Because "The Ugandan Expendables" Is Going To Take Home All The Hardware

I obviously exaggerated a bit in the headline there (I don’t actually think this movie would win any Oscars. Sometimes I like to have a little fun on this website). But, to be totally honest, I’m kind of impressed with the production value here. Is that condescending and perhaps even a little racist? Yeah, I guess it is. What do you want me to say though? Some of those fight scenes are actually pretty dope. And the fact that they even have photoshop to add things like helicopters and cars inexplicably reversing into tankers?

That’s legitimately impressive. So what if it looks like something I used to do in elementary school computer lab, any time there’s some semblance of technology used in a land where you’re genuinely unsure if they have electricity (seriously, do they? Those huts looked a lot more “this is where we live and it’s a home video” than “we built these for a set”) then you’ve got to tip your cap to the filmmakers. Even used fake blood which is also something I didn’t expect out of Africa. Kinda figured they just killed you and moved on.
