Suns Owner Robert Sarver Called Out Milennials For His Team Being Terrible, But It Seems Like He Just Hates Young People

Sporting News-  Not much has gone right for the Suns in recent years. The team hasn’t made the playoffs the past five seasons, and while everyone in Phoenix is talking about the playoffs right now, they’re buzzing about the red-hot Cardinals’ Super Bowl prospects, not the 12-24 Suns.

Team owner Robert Sarver told the Arizona Republic “the blame is to be shared from the top down.” But he also wonders whether some of his young players’ struggles with attitude might be common to all millennials. He specifically mentioned 26-year-old forward Markieff Morris, who complained quite publicly last summer after his twin brother, Marcus, went to the Pistons in a trade.

“I’m not sure it’s just the NBA,” Sarver told the Republic. “My whole view of the millennial culture is that they have a tough time dealing with setbacks, and Markieff Morris is the perfect example. He had a setback with his brother in the offseason and he can’t seem to recover from it.

“I’m not sure if it’s the technology or the instant gratification of being online. But the other thing is, I’m not a fan of social media. I tell my kids it’s like Fantasy Land. The only thing people put online are good things that happen to them, or things they make up. And it creates unrealistic expectations. We’ve had a number of setbacks this year that have taken their toll on us, and we haven’t been resilient. Therefore, it’s up to our entire organization to step up their game.”

Okay, there is a lot to digest there.  First of all, an NBA owner calling out milennials is an extremely bold strategy considering, you know, every good player in the league is a milennial.  So going at milennials is probably the worst idea an NBA owner has had since Donald Sterling was caught ranting about black people.

However, I think Sarver just hates young people in general.  I mean everyone is addicted to social media like a bunch of boobs.  Either your mom and dad are sharing month-old viral videos and pictures of their grandkids on Facebook or young, thirsty people are creeping on Instagram or Snapchat.  You know why?  Because the Internet is awesome.  All the news, photos, videos, and porn you could ever want is right at your fingertips.

And while the pussification of this country is always being documented, I don’t think that is the case here.  It is clear that Sarver doesn’t go on the Internet often if he thinks it is full of positivity.  Read a comment section or Twitter replies to a celebrity one time for me, Bobby.  And don’t use a twin’s reaction to his brother getting traded as your reasoning for burning a bridge with young players.  Twins are weird people by nature.  I don’t know or want to know what kind of weird shit may be going on behind closed doors.  Hell, I have the Lopez twins in my own city and I would be scared to share a hotel room with them together.

Then again, when your team does this against the Lakers last night, you just need to throw buzz words like “milennials” out to explain why your franchise sucks.

And finally, as a jersey guy that acknowledges wearing a jersey of another grown man may seem weird, having your owner wear jerseys is still a million times weirder.  Could there actually be an NBA owner that is worse than Kazoo Jimmy Dolan?  What a world we live in.
