This Dog Losing His Mind After Being Adopted From A Shelter Is Just The Best

The Dodo – Up until recently, a sweet but shy dog named Benny had no idea what the future had in store for him, or how close he came to seeing his cut short. As a resident of the Carson Animal Care Center, a high-kill shelter in Gardena, California, all he could do was sit and wait for someone to come along and save him, which he did week after week with no success. But then that all changed.

Earlier this month, Benny was finally adopted by a loving family. His reaction upon realizing that happy fact? Priceless.

Listen I know it’s Christmas week and that a dog blog is the easiest thing to throw out there and I swear I had every intention to do something substantive this morning but I just couldn’t resist Benny. It’s the holidays and for as jaded as I am in some aspects of life, I like the good vibes and want everyone, human and animal, to have their awesome heartfelt moment and I would say Benny got his:

That is definitely not a Brooks from Shawshank dog. Benny is that pure happiness you only get at a major moment in life and it’s beautiful. Here’s hoping Benny gets all the beef jerky and tennis balls and belly rubs with his new family for Christmas and forever.

Also maybe there’s a complicated answer besides funds that I don’t know about here but how are high-kill shelters still a thing? There are a lot of animals, I get it, but people bitch about when someone says a mean thing that hurts another person’s fee fees…we can’t fucking save and rehabilitate some animals a little more? Every no-kill shelter out there does a great job but the fact that we have to call them out for being great instead of just doing the most humane thing for the vast majority of animals is ridiculous. Make some change I want for once and do it for Benny, all you people who protest things.
