Madison Under Emergency Lockdown After Manhunt For Chicago Murderer Continues
(source) Multiple police agencies and the FBI are still searching for what police are calling an “extremely dangerous” man in an area around a Fitchburg hotel.
The suspect, Paris Poe, 33, Chicago, is being sought by the FBI for fleeing the Chicago area to avoid arrest. He’s also being sought in a federal murder investigation.
“He was last seen at the Country Inn on Nesbitt Road,” FBI spokesman Leonard Peace told Madison.com.
A reverse 911 call is being made to about 30,000 residents on the Southwest Side of Madison, mainly in the Fitchburg and Verona areas, according to the Dane County 911 Dispatch center.
The Verona School District has the high school in an “emergency lockdown” as of 1:30 p.m., meaning the classroom doors have been locked and students are told to stay down.
Chavez Elementary School is on a “soft” lockdown, with the exterior doors locked, according to Madison Metropolitan School District Security Coordinator Luis Yudice.
“Leopold Elementary School was on a soft lockdown earlier in the day,” Yudice told Madison.com.
The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to the capture of Poe.
Poe is a black male, 33 years old, hair in dreadlocks, 6 feet tall, 200 pounds, last seen wearing a black jacket and blue jeans. He also has a tattoo that reads “Chief Hobo” on his upper right arm and another tattoo that reads “RIP Angie” on his upper left arm.
“Do not have any contact with the suspect,” the dispatcher said.
“He is armed and dangerous,” Peace told Madison.com.
First of all, I’m literally walking out the door to go to the airport for a wedding this weekend, so I can’t manhunt Paris Poe, lucky for him, shitty for the people of Madison.
…
Second, if I was around, I probably would still sit this one out. I love Madison, spent the best 4 years of my life there, but any time a murderer with a “Chief Hobo” tattoo is on the loose I’m not interested. Call me a prude, or whatever, it’s just one of those rules I have.
PS
For Wisconsin Stoolies out there. I’m 99.9% sure that if you go to James Madison park you’ll find Chief Hobo playing pick up hoops with some timberlands on.
