Westboro Baptist To Protest Tomorrow Night's Nets vs Bulls Game

(CBS) When NBA center Jason Collins came out of the closet on Monday, the 34-year-old veteran received a flurry of both criticism and support.

Most of that criticism pales in comparison to the press release recently sent out by the Westboro Baptist Church of Topeka, Kansas.

The hate-group acting as a church, who operates under the mantra ‘God Hates F***’, is planning to protest the Bulls playoff game against the Nets at the United Center on Thursday evening.

In the press release, the church states they are protesting because Collins has “come out admitting that he’s a proud f**.

Well I’m not going to be a bad host. I don’t care if it’s my best friend visiting or a crazy cult that hates everyone and everything. I can’t be rude when someone comes to my city.

So here’s my tip Westboro. Go to Billy Goat and get yourself a cheezeborger. Then, once you’re done, cross the street and stand in front of the MJ statue, pretty cool right? He was awesome at basketball back in the 90’s. Then once the game has started you’re going to want to pack up all of your pamphlets and crazy talk and start walking due west, straight down Madison. Just keep walking, don’t worry, you’re not walking for any particular reason, it’s more that I heard the West Side is a lovely place after dark and that you guys would feel right at home. Have fun and thanks for stopping by!

thanks to Andrew for the tip
