Sylvester Stallone Attempts To Describe Philadelphians...And I Guess He's Kind Of Right?

In reality I think it’s more of a “Give us a Goddamn championship, please” than losing the nation’s capital 200 freaking years ago. Or the fact historically most Philadelphians made their living working hard nosed, blue collar jobs that made us hate, yet respect life. But I get that he’s kind of on point. And eloquent, for once? Or at least that’s how outsiders view Philly.

Even though I wasn’t even a glimmer in my parents’ eyes yet (and am still somehow not), it always bugged me when I saw Tug McGraw’s speech from the 1980 Phillies Championship Parade. I can’t find it, but it went something along the lines of “Philadelphia is always just a stop on your way from DC to New York, well today DC and New York can shove it, cause we’re number one!” And I get what the Tugger was trying to say, but come on now. Philly is the 5th most populated city in the country (DC is 22nd) and has more history, culture, and heart than anywhere in these great United States. There really isn’t any reason why this fair town can’t stand out on its own. So I guess Sly’s right with how there’s a chip on our shoulder. Good. And we don’t even give a fuck about it. Cue the music.

Again, really Sly?

And I guess this is obligatory for any Creed related post. #ClearEyesFullStrokeILose
