As of Wednesday afternoon, Modell’s online store was sold out of Porzingis No. 6 jerseys, and the Modell’s store next to MSG was down to nine Porzingis items, according to Dave Brown, a Modell’s license buyer. Brown says that, in advance of Black Friday during the Thanksgiving holiday, Modell’s stores throughout the city will be stocked with Porzingis threads.
“Right now, we have Porzingis jerseys in 40 stores in New York. We have a very good amount on the way to the online (Modell’s) store and a very, very large amount on its way to the store next to the Garden,” says Brown. “By next Wednesday, his jerseys will be in all the chain stores in New York and our inventory will quadruple. After (Tuesday’s) win, the sales over three days equaled all the sales from last week.”
Good luck keeping up the supply with the demand of an entire
city country planet, Adam Silver. A 7’3″ Latvian that can shoot like Dirk, dunk like LeBron and has the boyish good looks of Steph Curry hits every market of NBA fan. Plus, America will never get upset at him dancing after a big play because, well, you know.
And while I love all the attention that he is getting, I am kind of a Godzingis hipster. I feel like I loved him before most of the world did (even though I admittedly didn’t like the pick for the first 24 hours). Which is why I bought a Latvian flag as well. While everyone and their mother is rocking a Porzingis jersey, it’s the people that have a Latvian flag draped over said jersey that will stand out as the true fans.
Luckily there is no shortage of Godzingis shirts available on Barstool because we care about our readers more than the NBA cares about its fans.
