Inmate On Death Row Denied 6 Pack Of Beer As His Last Meal

JACKSON, Ga. — A death row inmate’s last meal request for a six pack of beer has been denied. The Georgia Department of Corrections said in a news release that Marcus Ray Johnson’s request was denied because alcohol is a contraband item. Instead, Johnson will receive the same meal as other inmates — baked fish, cheese grits, dry mixed beans, cole slaw, cornbread, cookies and fruit punch — before his execution. He is scheduled to die at 7 p.m. Thursday.

To be perfectly honest I never understood granting death row inmates a last meal request. We’re about to kill this dude and we’re gonna take requests to make sure he’s comfortable? Hey make sure that rapist and murderer gets what he wants for dinner tonight! I mean I understand the notion that you’re about to end his life so the least you can do is give him a good meal, but the whole thing just seems weird. Like if we’re taking requests from this guy he should probably request that we dont pump him full of lethal poison. Remember the dude a few years back who got a 29,000 calorie meal?? Dude chopped someone into a million pieces and raped his girlfriend…lets make sure he gets the chocolate AND the strawberry milkshake for dessert! Madness.

But if we’re gonna play this game, then rules are rules. If we’re gonna take requests for a final meal, give this asshole murderer his 6 pack. If he wants to go with the timeless liquid dinner, then thats his choice. Cant understand how you’d rather give this guy like a filet mignon or lobster tail instead of a sixer of Bud Light. Contraband shmonstraband. Either give this guy his last meal choice or dont even tease him. The only thing more inhumane than that is making someone eat baked fish, cheese grits, dry mixed beans, cole slaw, cornbread, cookies and fruit punch before they die. Thats legit the worst dinner imaginable.
