Isles Send Ryan Strome, Y'know, The Guy Who Put Up 50 Last Year, To The AHL
I’m a pretty even-keel guy, but what in the actual fuck is this move?
I understand #18 hasn’t looked anything like he did last year, where he put up 50 points as a 21 year old, but to give him the Josh Bailey/Nino Need-er-righter treatment is just downright a bad decision in my eyes.
Going into this season it was known that JT and Okposo we’re the top two point getters, with Fransie, Lee, and Nelson to help lead the secondary scoring, and Strome to be the fringe player – could put up 70, could put up only 40, we’ll see. But now 14 games in that plan hasn’t quuuiittee come to fruition, as it seems no one on this team wants to light a lamp.
My problem with sending Strome down is the fact that it can go soooo south soooo quickly. We saw it happen with Nino. Got sent down to send a message, took it personal, and it was never the same for him until he got shipped to Minnesota. Saw it with Bailey and now he.. well, no need to go into Josh Bailey now, it is Friday after all.
Bottomline is this move makes zero sense in my mind. If he’s not playing up to Capuano’s par then pick away at his icetime and let him figure it out alongside his linemates and his coaching staff, don’t ship him out to Connecticut’s armpit that is Bridgeport and hope it teaches the kiddo a lesson.
I thought we were beyond the days where moves like this were made, let alone to a 22 year old 50 point scorers who are slated to be the team’s second in command behind JT going down the road.
I just don’t get it. Just don’t get it.
