Should The Redskins Even Bother Trying this Week Vs. The Pats Or Just Move On To Next Week?
So the Washington Post posed this question today.
What if I offered you the following deal: You (as a Redskins fan) have to accept a guaranteed, 100-percent loss in New England this weekend. In exchange, Washington would be given, let’s say, a five-percent better chance to beat the Saints at home the next weekend.Would you take that offer? I think most Redskins fans would.
Great question, but it’s a no brainer answer. Of course the Redskins should basically forfeit this game vs. the Pats. They literally have 0,000% chance of winning this game. The 80 USA Olympic hockey team looked like favorites compared to the Redskins coming into Gillette. The Pats just never lose games like this and it’s obviously not going to happen this week. It’s 1 billion percent stupid to even try to win. The Skins should totally be getting ready for New Orleans. They should rest all their players. There is just no point to put in max effort just to get your lungs ripped out and stuffed down your eyeballs. Obviously Washington won’t follow this advice, but that’s just because everybody in the NFL is stupid. This is gamesmanship plain and simple. If the object is to win as many games as possible and make the playoffs there is literally no rational explanation as to why they should try this week. Why waste all your time and energy on a futile cause? It’s no different than when teams throw challenges on reality shows or tank for the playoffs. There is nothing gained by the Redskins actually trying to beat us. It’s an impossible task and time could be better spent in other places. That’s not me speaking as a Pats fan. That’s an unbiased opinion coming from a guy with a massive brain.
