OFFICIAL: Steve Smith Has A Torn Achilles, Is Out For The Season

I don’t have enough tears to cry for Steve Smith right now. Devastating. Just so devastating. I’ve said it a bunch of times before, and I’ll say it again. Nobody has deserved this miserable season less than one Steve Smith Sr. Nothing has gone right for him, yet he’s continued to fight through a broken back and myriad different injuries to still be wildly productive for a 36 year old WR… and now he takes the final blow. Torn achilles means that even if he were to come back, Week 1 of 2016 would be a challenge.

If he were to call it a career, I wouldn’t blame him. I’m not the one who would have to go through months and months of rehab. I just don’t think he’s the type of guy that will finish like this. If he chooses to hang em up, that wouldn’t be an indictment on his character though. He’s a family man, and his daughter is headed off to school to play soccer at DePaul. He would certainly have his reasons to not come back. Retiring wouldn’t diminish what he’s done throughout his career in the least. I still think he’s got plenty left in the tank and he would certainly be an asset next year for us but if this is the end, thanks for a great couple of years Steve.
