Diving Saves, So Hot Right Now. Diving Saves.

If this is a safe environment where we can all be honest with one another, I hate goalies. Because they do shit precisely like this. They prevent highlight reel goals from going in with their highlight reel saves. Like I’d much rather watch a video of Connor McDavid dance the shit out of Karri Ramo and finish it in the back of the net instead of Ramo getting his paddle on the puck right before it goes in, but I guess #GoalieLivesMatter too. Either way, sometimes goalies make some ridiculous saves that deserve credit too and this week there were 2 unbelievable diving saves made outside of the NHL. The first comes from Jeff Glass who, unfortunately, has to play in that shithole of a country some people like to call Russia.

Glass is probably best known for leading the Canadian team to a gold medal at the 2005 World Juniors, but now he can add this beauty to his resume. A whole lotta desperation going on here in this save and it all pays off. It’s just a shame that he has to get paid in I.O.U’s since the KHL is crumbling because this save was a beaut. And from the KHL, we make our way on over to the BCHL up in Canada where Carson Schamerhorn (what a fucking name) had a desperation dive of his own.

Now the only reason why this save happens is because whoever ended up taking that shot obviously hasn’t watched enough Ovechkin/Stamkos highlights to know that a one-time clapper from that spot is a guaranteed goal. Holding on to the puck and settling the pass gave Schamerhorn the time to get himself over there in time to make the save. But it was still pretty damn impressive nonetheless. I know a grand total of zero things about this kid but that name alone deserves to do great things in the future. And that wraps up your daily fix of goalies doing goalie things.
