Beast Daddy Fletcher Cox Wins NFC Defensive POTW, It's Time For The World To Notice This Guy Is Special

Saints Eagles Football

PFT – Defensive lineman Fletcher Cox is the NFC’s defensive player of the week, for the first time in his career. “I hope the outside world recognizes the talent that he has,” defensive coordinator Bill Davis said after the game. “He’s a Pro Bowl-caliber player. I’ve been around a long time, and that’s what they look like. They play the run and they cause disruptions in the passing game. Sack numbers come and go, but he has the skill set.”

6 tackles. 3 sacks. 2 FF. 1 fumble recovery. And an award very well deserved. When Ray Diddy says someone reminds him of Reggie White, you have to stop and gander. Everything about this kid is special. The size, speed, power, and absolute determination to destroy. 300+ pound individuals aren’t supposed to move how Cox does and be this athletic. The guy is a prototypical 99 rating in Madden when those almighty rankings existed. While his stats aren’t overly impressive (credit to being mostly an interior defensive lineman), Cox is causing a ruckus on almost every single play. Even against double teams. Bennie Logan and the rest of the Eagles front 7 definitely deserve credit for them being a force this season, but Cox is absolutely the anchor of that ship. Thank Christ Andy Reid’s last first round draft pick for the Birds was probably his best ever.

The best part? This freak of nature is only going to get better. A lot better.

PS – The last two Eagles to win NFC Defensive Player Of The Week were Kurt Coleman in 2011 and Chris Clemons in 2008. Ew. Please excuse me while I go take a shower.
