At What Point Do We Find Out That Tracy McGrady Is Broke As Fuck?

HOUSTON — Tracy McGrady wants to follow Michael Jordan‘s path to the national pastime. The retired seven-time NBA All-Star is aiming to become a baseball player, and plans to try pitching for the Sugar Land Skeeters of the independent Atlantic League. That’s the same team that Roger Clemens pitched for a couple of years ago. Jordan famously played in the Chicago White Sox organization in 1994 during his first retirement from basketball, reaching the Double-A level. “Just having a tryout for a minor league team is more fulfilling than anything I can imagine as far as baseball,” McGrady told ESPN.com by phone Tuesday. “I’m just going to train as hard as I can and pursue my dream. Where this takes me, I don’t know. “I’m doing this for the love of the game. I’ve made money. The Atlantic League doesn’t have salaries like the major leagues. So this is a kid who’s trying to fulfill his dream. This isn’t a gimmick. I’ve played baseball. I know the game of baseball. And I’m going after what I’ve always wanted to do.”

So this weekend Tracy McGrady came out and said that he’s seriously thinking about coming back and playing baseball which makes absolutely zero sense.  On top of that he’s thinking about signing with an independent league team.  So when do we find out that he T-Mac is broke as fuck?  Maybe he invested in the wrong companies?  Maybe he lost it all at the blackjack table?  This has to be coming pretty soon, right?  I was for sure it would’ve come out by now.  Why else would he doing this?  34 year old retired basketball superstars who made 150 million dollars over the course of their career don’t just wake up one day and say, “Hey, I’m gonna give this baseball thing a chance.  I’m sick of sitting around my big ass mansion and living the dream.  And not only am I gonna play baseball but I’m gonna try and pitch which is pretty much one of the hardest things in the world.”  That’s not a real world thought.  That’s the thought of someone who blew through all of his money and is looking to get back in the limelight to make a few extra bucks.  And I know McGrady is insisting that this isn’t a money move but I don’t believe that for one second.  I know when someone is spinning bullshit and McGrady is spinning an epic amount of bullshit right now.  There’s an underlying reason why this is happening we just don’t know what it is yet.
