Mets Break Out The Brooms And Deliver The Most Demoralizing Sweep I Think I've Ever Seen

I’m not kidding, I can’t remember a more demoralizing sweep than that. If you want to count the Red Sox reverse sweep, of course that takes the cake. The Mets only lost 2 out of 3 against the Marlins to end their season back in 07. But as far as pennant race baseball, given the circumstances, I can’t remember a more pathetic sweep than what just happened to the Nationals. I explained just how demoralizing the first two games of this series were for the Nats, given all the controversy around the Mets.

And then there was tonight. The Nationals last hope. Salvage one game from this series and perhaps, maybe, leave a glimmer of hope. Strasburg on the mound DEALING. A thousand strikeouts through 7 innings. Putting the team on his back. The quote unquote MVP finally comes alive and bashes 2 home runs. The Strasburg-Harper duo finally coming through in a big spot. And then…

CESPEDES HAPPENED.

Or more appropriately should I say…Drew Storen and Matt Williams happened.

Here is my handle, here is my spout!

The worst manager in the world tagging in the worst reliever in the world after the single worst relief effort of the year just last night. Cespedes puts one into outer space, Familia closes the door with a split finger, and the Nationals are dead. Put em in a pine box. Night night. Take a dirt nap. See you next season.

Gotta give ENORMOUS credit to TdA and Conforto. The young bucks got the job done tonight. Keeping this team in it until the Cuban Missile struck and then tacking on runs to end it. Oh and did I mention a guy named deGrom? 7IP 9K 2 R. Went pitch for pitch with the Strasburg of old and gave his team a chance to disembowel the Nats late in the game once again for the third straight day. What a game. What a team. Lets Go Mets.
