Finally. Finally he stopped talking. Finally he stopped giving the press the amo to shoot him. I’m not blaming the press or the media for doing their jobs, it’s just that RG3 wants to be buddy-buddy with everyone, then gets all butt-hurt when they say bad things about him. His coach wants him to talk less. So that’s what he did. Finally. He answered everything with “we’re focused on San Francisco”. Must have said it 20 times in the 5 minute presser.

What he has to realize is people don’t like you for your inspirational quotes on Twitter. People don’t like you for selling Subway Subs. People like winners. His rookie season he was the talk of the NFL because he was a winner. 2 blown knees later, that’s all changed. He doesn’t win anymore. And it’s taken a toll on his head. He’s not there mentally. But he has continued to dance around like he’s the king of the thing. Guess what, it’s awfully hard to be the king when you don’t perform. When you don’t win football games.

Winning teams and players don’t give a fuck about the media, about how many Twitter followers they have, or what some Joe Schmo local reporter thinks about them. They’re job is 1) play football, 2) play football, and 3) play football. Not give soundbites to the media, not tweet funny socks on Twitter, not be a clown while being blown out at home to the 1-8 Bucs.

He should never answer a question ever again. It was cool for a little bit that he actually had personality, but he can’t handle the media. Maybe he will be able to later in his career as he matures, but not right now. And honestly, that’s why I don’t think his career is over. It’s over in DC, but I think he can be a winning QB in a town with less pressure, in a town where he can develop, and in a town where he can start new.
