This is great. So let me get this straight; NESN just created a PR disaster by trying to cover up a PR disaster? Sounds about right. Fucking NESN, huh?
So the way this story went down, I guess, is that NESN was freaking out from all of the backlash that they had been getting after firing Don Orsillo — not necessarily from the fans, but also from the national media. In a desperate attempt to save face, they approached Orsillo and asked him if he could tweet out that this was a mutual decision, and that it wasn’t just NESN letting him go. Are you fucking kidding me? On what planet does NESN live on that would make them think that this would go over well? Yeah, people are really upset that we unjustifiably fired you, and everyone in the world is calling us out for the assholes that we are, so could you please do us a solid and lie in a tweet to say that this wasn’t entirely our fault, even though it 100% was? Thanks, man!
Good on Don for telling them to shove it up their ass. Not only did he decline to tweet that it was mutual, but he threw a subtweet out there in the classiest possible way to let fans know that he still wants to be here, broadcasting Red Sox games and doing what he loves to do. It wasn’t mutual at all. Don’t believe their bullshit. It was entirely out of his hands. Fucking NESN. Unbelievable.
