Nic Cage BACK For 'Lords Of War' Sequel As Arms Dealer Yuri Orlov With An A+ Trailer That Has Him Blasting Off Against Bill Skarsgård As His Evil Son

Did anyone know this sequel was coming 20 years later? I'm one of the most dedicated card carrying members of the CAGE CLUB and I had no fuckin' idea. And although I generally wouldn't force a movie trailer down your throat, I do feel compelled in this case. After all, the original 'Lord Of War' is somehow one of Nic's best received films. Definitely worth a weekend watch if you've never seen it. Cheeky international arms dealing fun for the whole family!

(SOURCE) - Director Andrew Niccol had his crew buy 3,000 real rifles ($200 each) from a Czech arms dealer because it was cheaper than building props (later sold for a loss). Niccol also rented 50 real T-72 tanks for $500,000 and had to return them on a tight schedule because the same Czech arms dealer later sold them to Libya (and before shooting this scene, the production had to give NATO a heads up in case the satellite images alarmed them).

Plus can't go wrong with a supporting cast of Bridget Moynahan, Ethan Hawke, & just enough Jared Leto. It's a surprisingly well made experience for the 2000s.

And although it’s not a 100% true story, there is just enough real life wonder to lure in the history buffs too. Apparently Nic’s character Yuri Orlov was based off a few famous weapons dealers, including Russian Viktor Bout who was prisoner exchanged for Brittney Griner a few years ago. Good times!

But wouldn't it be incredible to see a possible 'Lord Of War' trilogy teased with that moment happening in the post credits like it's the MCU? Either way though, I’m just happy this trailer is getting Nic some well deserved high praise online. Everyone has been so damn mean to him this week about his supposedly bad John Madden voice. Sad!

Who cares if he isn’t the exact embodiment of Madden in every meaningful way. Find a new slant! Let’s take a breath and remember he is ACTING & myth making on camera, not being a dull stand-in for a documentary. If you wanna eat popcorn watching an A+ impression, go enjoy some Frank Caliendo classics instead. It's a free country pal.

Otherwise shut the fuck up and have some goddamn respect for a living legend. Least you can do for a currently homeless gentlemen of the arts. Have a heart. Choose LOVE.

Imagine being one of the biggest stars on the planet. Oscar on the shelf, $20 million a movie. And you spend it like the money will never run out. Cage reportedly burned through around $150 million. He bought two castles: an 11th-century Bavarian one for about $8 million, plus another in England. He bought a private island. He reportedly outbid Leonardo DiCaprio for a $276,000 dinosaur skull. It turned out to be stolen from Mongolia, and he had to give it back. Then 2009 hit. The housing market collapsed, and Cage was sitting on a pile of properties he couldn’t sell. In the same year the IRS filed two tax liens against him: $6.2 million in July and $6.7 million in December. Banks started foreclosing. The castle went. So did the Las Vegas mansion. He even sold his rare Action Comics #1 for $2.16 million. Cage blamed his business manager, and said the man had lined his own pockets while he sank. But in his own telling, the real culprit was real estate. On 60 Minutes in 2023 he laughed off the wild-spending story: it wasn’t because he’d spent “$80 on an octopus.” So what did he do? He didn’t file for bankruptcy. He moved to tax-free Las Vegas and worked. Three or four movies a year, back to back, some great (Mandy), many forgettable. In 2012 he paid off a $6,257,005 tax bill. Later he called work his “guardian angel.”

So I say keep pumping out the hits Sir Nic! I’ll certainly do my best to help pay for your next castle & various dinosaur skulls. Midas whale fire up the band to starting writing ‘The Weatherman 2’ & ‘Next 2’ while you’re at it… Maybe those will be the box office hits that inspire ‘National Treasure 3’ to finally get made.

Until then, consider me SEATED for 'Lords Of War' and 'True Detective' S5 with Antonio Banderas after that. One of those rare times where it's actually inspiring to see the rich get richer. And keep in mind that is OSCAR WINNER Nic Cage to you. Legend of our time. Not that he ever left.
