The Pop From The Crowd Inside Rupp Arena When Kentucky Was Announced As The #6 Team In The College Football Playoffs Will Bring Any Fan To Tears

I don't care about these playoff rankings. I know people keep bitching about it but outside of a couple changes no one says anything about how they would actually make them better. Not to mention that a lot of these teams are playing each other so it will all shake out. What I do care about is that team in blue at number 6. Just to clarify:

That's right. That's 7-1 Kentucky sitting right there. That's 7-1 Kentucky with first year head coach Will Stein currently hosting a playoff game at Commonwealth Stadium. Now what brought a tear to my eye was this pop inside Rupp Arena because this announcement came during Kentucky's opener for hoops

That's Stone Cold's glass breaking in the 90s. That's a pop you dream of. Look, it wasn't that long ago that this school was in a Civil War over football school and basketball school. We've always been and always will be a basketball school. That's just a fact. But we love our football team. I've been there when we won 3 games and then Rich Brooks got us beating Number 1 LSU and making Music City Bowls when that mattered. Those stands are filled. We're an everything school. Volleyball, basketball, football, you name it. We're ranked in them all right now.

Obviously a long way to go. We're one game at a time here, Will Stein taught me that. One play at a time. Tennessee on the road this week can define the season. Win that and you're looking at a team ready to play in the SEC Championship game. I can't believe I'm alive to see Kentucky ranked 6th this early in Will Stein's era. What a year and what a moment. This is the new version of Kentucky athletics.
