The Winnipeg Jets Completed Quite Literally The Most Insane Comeback In NHL History After Being Down 4-0 With 3 Minutes Left To Play

It's been a tough go for the Winnipeg Jets to start this season. It's never a good sign when the best player on your team flat out tells the rest of the squad that he wants nothing to do with any of you. When Connor Hellebuyck is willing to forfeit damn near a million dollars just to not play for the Jets, that's a brutal blow to the morale of the squad.

Sometimes you just need to get a win. Sometimes you just need to catch a break to make you realize that maybe things aren't quite as bad as they seem. Sure, you're stuck living in Winnipeg and we haven't even gotten to the winter yet. Life is only about to get more dark and miserable with the days ahead. But something for the boys to hang their hat on would be great right about now.

And holy shit did they get it last night after finding themselves down in a 0-4 hole against the Montreal Canadiens with just under 3 minutes left to play in regulation.

With 2:39 left in the 3rd period, Tyrel Bauer scored the first goal of his NHL career after firing this bouncing puck towards the net. Turns out that pucks on net is always a good thing. Bauer already had a fight on the night after dropping the gloves with Arber Xhekaj earlier in the period…

So he has a fight, he has a goal. All he needs now is to pick up an assist. Which came just under a minute later when Morgan Barron made it a 4-2 game.

What a disgusting snipe. And now Tyrel Bauer completes his first Gordie Howe Hat Trick. The vibes are high. There's only 2 minutes left to go, and they're still trailing by 2. But vibes are up, and Montreal's ass is puckering up a bit.

Heeeeeeere comes Kyle Connor!

Back-to-back one timer blasts in under a minute to tie this bitch up at 4-4.

With 3 minutes left in regulation, Montreal was up 4-0. Over the span of 2 minutes and 6 seconds, the Winnipeg Jets scored 4 in a row to send this game to overtime. What an unbelievable comeback. What a way to steal a point out of this game. But nobody would really remember this night if they didn't complete the comeback to putting a big 2 points up in the stands.

Dylan Samberg how ya doin.

All-time comeback from the Jets. All-time collapse by the Habs. And when I say "all-time", that's not hyperbole. I literally mean all-time. Like it's never been done before.

I guess that's why they always say that the 9653rd try is the charm. Teams that trailed by 4+ goals in the final 3 minutes of the 3rd period are now 1-9652-0. Which is just a preposterously insane stat.

By the way--you can say what you want about Donny T, but the man knows puck. He saw this meltdown coming days ago.

All it takes is one crazy win like that to turn a locker room around. Now they can move past all the Hellebuyck stuff. What a great story that would be. In reality, they'll probably still be pretty brutal all year and miss the playoffs. But it has to be fun to have some faith at least for 48 hours. That's more than I can say as a Flyers fan at the moment.
