"He's Got a Point?": The Journey Of A Dogshit Basketball Player Trying To Score In A Men's League Game

Ever since I started hooping all I ever wanted was an opportunity to tryout for The Yuggernauts roster. The other day my wish came true after I asked head coach, Ohio's Tate why I haven't been given a chance yet. He quickly told me he doesn't make those decisions and to talk to "Owner Who Can Still Coach Whenever He Feels Like It", Big Cat. I told BC all I needed was a shot and so he offered me a spot on the team right then and there. It was officially time for me to show them that I could provide value to this roster heading into a new season.

Look, I consider myself a grit guy. The type of guy you want on your team when the going gets tough. Not technically skilled but will dive for loose balls, play tough defense and communicate effectively with the squad on the court even though I have never played an ounce of organized basketball.

Little did I know that I was about to be thrown into a blender with terms like: Flash, Twirl, and High-Low. I was COMPLETELY LOST about 5 minutes into our first practice and felt like I was gonna be a detriment to the team.

After practice, Tate hosted a press conference to discuss how the team was looking and talk about the roster moves made in the offseason.

"Rookie of the year means it has to be your first year on the team. We have three of those people: we have Doitche, we have Reed and we have Kody. I can tell you who it's not going to be... it's not going to be Kody" - Head coach Ohio's Tate when asked about the new additions to the roster.

I went to bed last night thinking my basketball career was over as soon as it started. Despite having an AWFUL start to the season I came back with one goal in mind: Be better than I was on Monday.

Coming into the second practice, Coach Tate brought in Mark Titus as my personal coach to keep me on track and motherfuck me when I inevitably mess up a drill. I got my first taste of that when we were doing left handed layups and I couldn't make one to save my life. I was immediately pulled out of the drill and sent to the side line to practice jumping off of my right leg and going up with my left leg and left hand. A truly humbling experience as a grown man, but if I want to be great on the court I have to work harder than I ever have before.

Which is why I am officially announcing "He's Got A Point?". My journey of determination to score a single point in one of The Yuggernauts men's league games this season.

I know that my role on this team is not meant to be a flashy point scorer. My value isn't going to show up on the box score. However, I will bring the good vibes. Hyping up my teammates, being a glue guy and trying to get the ball through the hoop just one time.

After two days of practice with the team I am ready to get the season rolling. We have our first game today and I still haven't been added to the group chat so I'm not sure when or where the game is but I do know one thing, I will be ready when my number is called.

IT JUST TAKES ONE!
