The WNBA Reportedly Were Going To Play Game 6 Of The Finals On Friday Night During Primetime, But WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert Axed It Because Game 7 Would Be On Election Night
Listen, it still doesn't feel real that we're about to tip Game 6 of the WNBA Finals at the prime hour of 12:30 PM on a Thursday afternoon. The good news is that I think the viewership will actually somewhat be fine, considering all the media buzz around the decision to play it this early. The bad news is that the Valkyries, if they end up winning today, have approximately 32 seconds to celebrate on the court before they have to start turning it over for the Atlanta Hawks game later this evening.
The newest tidbit is that the WNBA actually almost did the right thing, which would be playing the game in primetime tomorrow evening, and even got WWE support, but axed it because they would have to play Game 7 on Election Night. Look, I get politics are important, but I never really understood why the NBA takes the entire day off. You have the entire day to vote, and the polls close before the games would even tip unless I live under a dumb, stupid rock.
I don't know how the WNBA continually makes the wrong decisions, but fuck it, that is why we W, folks. I'm starting to feel the electricity of the State Farm Arena from my desk. Let's go Dream!
