The Philadelphia Eagles Have A Major Dwight Schrute Problem On Their Hands
This guy. This guy right here. Who the actual frick is this guy?

No, not Nick Sirianni. But the fella acting like scoring a touchdown in the 1st quarter of a game against the Dallas Cowboys while the team is 2-4 is any reason to celebrate like you just locked up a Super Bowl.
That would be Cole Peterson. His role is "Assistant to the Head Coach". That's not a joke. That is his literal role on the coaching staff. He's not an assistant coach, he's not an assistant coordinator. He is just Nick Sirianni's assistant. And you know what? Fair. Being a head coach in the NFL is a major responsibility, and it's always nice to have a little extra help. The only issue is…well…Nick Sirianni doesn't really do anything himself, now does he? He doesn't call plays on offense. He's not involved with the defense. He's just a CEO head coach. A figure head at best.
So the question then becomes just why the hell does Nick Sirianni need an assistant? Especially one who is out on the sideline with him and celebrating a 1st quarter touchdown like this team is on their way to a miraculous comeback to save the season and go on another deep run to February.
And let me just say that this is not a Cole Peterson issue. Cole Peterson is not the reason why the Eagles are as big of a mess as they are right now. He's not the sickness, but he is certainly a symptom. Because the Eagles have way too many of these guys around who don't actually need to be there. Obviously the biggest example of this is Big Dom.
Big Dom bringing some cannolis out to the field for Pat McAfee and Jason Kelce. Holy shit talk about a nightmare blunt rotation of the most over-exposed guys in sports.
Big Dom was awesome for a minute there a few years ago because nobody really knew who he was. He was there, but he never really made himself seen. He was just a guy in the shadows who clearly knew his role with this team. And then he became a brand. Now it's like he has an earpiece in and knows exactly which camera the broadcast is going to, and gets himself into every shot. Big Dom 100% carries himself out there like he is bigger than the program. And while I'm sure there are a ton of things he does behind the scenes, we should never actually see Big Dom during an Eagles game.
But that's the Philadelphia Eagles under Nick Sirianni. That is what this regime has done. There are two guys on that staff who are more important than anybody else, and they are Sean Mannion and Vic Fangio. Both of them just so happen to be up in the press box the whole game. Meanwhile, the sideline is full of side characters, yes men, and cheerleaders. And it's an issue because that becomes the culture of this team. A whole lot of people doing a whole lot of nothing.
