'We're Trying' - It Doesn't Get Sadder Than Listening To Aaron Glenn Trying To Defend How The Jets Have Been Outscored 107-6 In A 2-Minute Drill Since He Became Coach
You might notice I put an 'a' 2-minute drill vs the 2-minute drill. Because that would be wrong. This is a singular 2-minute drill. Just the first half 2-minute drill. I don't even know how you're around for 24 games and score 6 points in the last 2 minutes of the first half. I watch football all the time and people are always scoring late. It's usually pretty dumb, but everyone scores in the 2-minute drill, especially since kickers have range to 65 with ease now.
But, this is Aaron Glenn and the Jets we're talking about. They don't exactly do smart things and they for sure don't help themselves with the press. Because this is what Glenn said:
You can't hit the world with the 'I'm trying, Jennifer' line when you're an NFL coach. It's funny when you're on the Blazers and people forget they exist. It doesn't work in the NFL. But, at the same time, it's perfect for the Jets. This is what the Jets head coach should be saying. Look, we have a dogshit franchise. We've always been a dogshit franchise. We're trying, so 107-6 isn't THAT bad. At least, that's what I assume is going on in his head here. Because this might be the saddest answer or justification of all time.
It's clear this is one of the 700 problems with the Jets. But you have Mike Tomlin mocking you. You had the entire Internet thinking this stat had to be fake until it said Jets and Aaron Glenn. It's pretty clear if you're doing the same thing for a couple years in a row and keep getting your ass kicked, it ain't gonna work. Can't just say hey we're trying it'll change eventually. Not when you're the Jets and you constantly have a lack of talent. Gross man. I almost feel bad for Jets fan, but then that's also impossible. I tried though. See, how easy it is to just say that.
